The Controversy with the Crucial, Dashrath Character Set to Portray by Arun Govil, Not Big B
As prior, the lead casting was already done by the makers: Ranbir Kapoor playing Ram, the leading Lady Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash playing Ravana, Sunny Deol playing Hanuman, Lara Dutta playing Kaikeyi, and Gurfateh Pirzada to portray Lakshman.
There was a huge rife that Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was cast for the character prince Dashrath, but recently, as per the latest report by ETimes, Arun Govil, who was popularly known for the character Ram in old Ramananda Sagar’s Ramayana, is now approached for the character Raja Dashrath, with the concept of a connection between Modarn Days Ramayana and old Ramananda Sagar’s Ramayana. Now the question arises: will netizens accept him as Raja Dashrath?
Simultaneously, another rumour came out that Rakul Preet Singh, who was last seen in the Tamil movie Ayalaan, also roped in for the film for the character Shurpanakha.
More About Ramayana
The epic drama, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is shooting to begin next month, in March 2024, with the lead characters Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, followed by Sunny Deol in May and the popular KGF star Yash in July. The filming will wrap up after Yash’s scens; hopefully, the filming will conclude at the end of 2024 and be targeted for release in Diwali 2025.
