Badass Ravi Kumar – A Retro Action Ride! Rating: 4.5 stars
Pros: Himesh’s Performance: Himesh Reshammiya doesn’t just act; he lives the role of Ravi Kumar. His energy and commitment to the character are infectious.
Nostalgic Action: If you miss the old school Bollywood action flicks, this movie hits all the right notes with its over-the-top fights and dramatic dialogues.
Music: Himesh’s background score and songs are a perfect match for the film’s vibe, bringing back the 80s with modern twists.
Entertainment Value: Pure escapism. It’s fun, silly, and doesn’t take itself too seriously, making it a great watch for a light-hearted movie night.
Cons: Pacing: The film could’ve benefited from a tighter edit. At times, it feels like it drags, especially in the middle. Cheesy Dialogues: While part of the charm, some dialogues are a bit too cheesy, which might not sit well with everyone. Predictability: The plot isn’t groundbreaking; if you’ve seen one action flick, you’ll see the twists coming from a mile away. Tone: The movie walks a fine line between satire and genuine action, which might confuse viewers expecting a more consistent tone.
Overall: “Badass Ravi Kumar” is a love letter to the action films of the 80s and 90s, delivered with a modern twist. It’s not going to win any awards for subtlety, but it’s a fun, if somewhat predictable, cinematic experience. If you’re looking for a stress-free, action-packed evening, give this a shot.
Himesh Reshammiya’s Badass Ravi Kumar is the cinematic equivalent of a wild rollercoaster—bumpy, dizzying, yet strangely exhilarating. It leans into its chaos, making for a ride you won’t forget. Buckle up or bail out, there’s no in-between!
Rating: 2 stars
#BadassRaviKumar is UNBEARABLE. The only good thing about the film is #HimeshReshammiya’s music. The film is true to its genre but is not entertaining and that’s the basic issue. The dialogues & the punches work but the film fails to hold you!
The rating is heavily driven by the music and the film’s marketing and communication. Pointing out ‘80s film’, ‘logicless’ and the parody aspect through the film’s assets is a plus as the audience knows what’s in the film. But even such spoofs have entertainment and are enjoyable. What’s the point in making something that isn’t entertaining in the name of a parody.
Previously, memes were made out of films but now films are made out of memes and that’s okay as the assets conveyed the same but the entertainment needs to be there.
#BadassRaviKumar could’ve been more enjoyable but it rather tests your patience as the supporting cast irritates you constantly. Barring the music, the film comes across as a huge disappointment but even the music has not been used properly.
