Beauty in Black Season 2-Part 1 Review: Tyler Perry is back with her famous and much-awaited “Beauty in Black Season 2-Part 1“, which is released on Netflix on 11th September 2025. The show, which has two parts, with each part having 8 episodes, has been heavily disappointing with its first half. This time, the Bellarie family drama was supposed to reach higher stakes with Kimmie as the new CEO, but instead, Beauty in Black Season 2 falls flat, as it has a lot of repetitive scenes and an overall lack of gripping storytelling. Beauty in Black Season 2-Part 1 Plot
Beauty in Black Season 2’s story takes us to Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams), who is shown taking control of Horace’s (Ricco Ross) wealth. Now, as she has become the CEO, she desperately wants the power of the Bellarie family. The plot looked interesting, but, instead of a tense battle for money and power, we were served with a dragged-out narrative that hardly delivers. The episode lacked meaningful progression, as much of the season is filled with Mallory and Roy arguing and Varney being clingy.
Though not everything is flat. In its eight episodes of about an hour each, Beauty in Black Season 2 has given a few memorable moments that are worth cherishing. For example, the build-up to Kimmie finally facing the Bellaries was great, but it also went flat at the end. Her win, which is backed by facts and numbers, doesn’t leave a lasting impact.

Direction and Writing
Tyler Perry, who is the main brain behind Beauty in Black Season 2-part 1, deserves credit for his ambition. But the poor execution of his idea was highly disappointing, and it could have been much better. The problem is that the show dabbles in too many subplots, and this will leave viewers confused. The writing is poor as it relies heavily on shallow shock factors that are explained away almost immediately, and this removes any chance of long-term suspense.
Why Beauty in Black Season 2-Part 1 Disappoints
One of the main issues in the show is pacing. We expected a juicy drama and unpredictable twists with Beauty in Black Season 2, but we got to find long stretches of repetitive dialogue. Season 2 becomes frustratingly slow and predictable, and this will make the loyal fans question whether continuing into part 2 of season 2 is worth it.

All in all, Beauty in Black Season 2-Part 1 takes us on an eight-episode ride of disappointment. The show had an amazing cast, but unfortunately, it wasn’t really able to fully utilize it. Unlike season 1, which worked as a guilty pleasure, season 2 just feels like filler material, as it drags without providing entertainment value. Lastly, this was just part 1, and with Beauty in Black Season 2, part 2, we expect Tyler to do something amazing that will blow our minds.
