Storyline Review
Taking place in Mangalpur, the story is about the character Akash, who owns a haunted palace and plans a wedding in that palace. He starts witnessing bizarre incidents that point towards the haunting nature of the building. The theme of the movie is based on stories that are part of Indian mythology, such as the Vedas and Mahabharata.
The story revolves around the myth of Vadhusur and the haunted village. It is a story where the fear of evil ghosts dominates, and thus, Akash discovers some hidden stories connected with the haunted palace.
Cast & Performances
Undoubtedly, Akshay Kumar steals the show in the movie with his impeccable comic timing and good acting. The movie features some of his most emotional scenes, thus showing that he is back in form. In addition, the veteran actors such as Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav add their touch to the film with their excellent sense of humor.
For instance, Rajpal Yadav steals the first half of the film with his comedic dialogues. While Tabu provides a convincing performance, her character is rather limited in scope. Similarly, the song by Wamiqa Gabbi seems to have no effect on the overall plot.
Positive Points
- Classic-style comedy with confusion, chaos, misunderstandings, and slapstick humor.
- Excellent performance by the lead actor as well as other supporting actors like Rajpal Yadav and Paresh Rawal.
- A nostalgic feeling associated with films such as Hera Pheri and Bhool Bhulaiyaa.
- The first half of the movie is full of jokes, suspense, and entertainment.
- Interesting combination of mythology and black magic elements.
Negative Points
- The latter part lacks strength due to its weak backstory and drawn-out climax.
- Some of the characters, particularly among the women, receive no adequate development.
- The storyline seems a bit outdated, depending too much on traditional elements of comedy.
- Some of the subplots seem contrived and do not serve the plot much.

Final Verdict
Bhooth Bangla is an entertaining and nostalgic movie that succeeds because of a great performance by its stars. Even though the movie does not quite compare to the genius of the previous works of Priyadarshan, it still manages to provide good entertainment for the audience.
If you like horror-comedy movies that remind you of classic Bollywood, then this movie might suit your tastes. Nevertheless, if you prefer a more modern story, you may find some inconsistencies within the plot.
