Elite Force Plot
The main character is Sylvain Caron, an experienced GIGN member played by Tomer Sisley, who is getting ready for his last mission. But everything changes when his godson, 25-year-old Max, becomes a part of the same elite squad at a time of a threatening terror attack.
Sylvain suffers from the loss of Max’s father, who died during one of his previous missions, so he takes his role as a mentor seriously and tries to protect him from repeating the same mistake.
The show manages to integrate military operations, family relations, and psychological conflict into one coherent plot, thereby distinguishing itself from other counter-terrorism shows.

Performances
- The outstanding performance of Tomer Sisley, who plays Sylvain Caron, is the base of the series’ emotional depth. Sisley portrays a seasoned military officer whose cool-headedness belies years of emotional trauma. His acting provides the series with its emotional core and makes all action sequences believable.
- The fine performance by Tristan Zanchi, who plays Max, makes the rookie soldier character very believable. Despite the common path of growth for a rookie soldier, the chemistry between Sisley and Zanchi makes the relationship interesting through all episodes of the series.
- Supporting performances by actors, including Geraldine Pailhas, contribute to additional layers in the plot. The character played by Pailhas as an inspector in internal affairs brings several exciting episodes not connected with the battlefield.
Direction and Technical Aspects
Thanks to the experience of director Julien Leclercq in dealing with military plots, every scene looks well-researched and well-planned due to the cooperation with the real GIGN. There is no need to resort to the exaggeration of actions; instead, the emphasis is put on the teamwork and realism of combat.
Cinematography matches the real-life story line by having a good visual presentation and a good sense of tension, while the background score of Laurent Perez Del Mar adds to the suspense.

What Works
Realism is the main advantage of Elite Force. The military activities are realistic, and the emotional story line provides a reason for the viewers to be attached to the characters beyond the activity. Tomer Sisley is the main character of the series, and the pace is constant throughout all eight episodes.
What Doesn’t Work
Even though the series is interesting, some clinches of the genre may sometimes show. Family story lines sometimes take some time to become emotionally interesting, while some supporting characters would deserve more screen time. The whole storyline is quite predictable for viewers of military dramas.
