Alpha Movie Review (2026): Alpha was supposed to be the best in its series with high expectations, given that it features a film lead entirely by women in YRF’s hit spy universe. The presence of an actress who is an excellent deadly assassin and a woman who plays the role of her lost twin sister was anticipated to make the film more entertaining than any other action flick.

Alpha Storyline
Alpha’s plot centers on the character named Sita (Alia Bhatt), who was abducted at a very young age by Lt. Colonel Fateh Singh Shekhawat (Bobby Deol). Isolated from the world and brought up by her kidnapper, she turns into the sole success story of Project Alpha, which is supposed to give birth to super-soldiers who can heal instantaneously.
Years later, Sita betrays the person who raised her after learning many truths about himself. In the course of completing the mission, she meets her real father, who works as the RAW chief, as well as her twin sister Durga (Sharvari). Together, the sisters strive to save the nation from Shekhawat’s deadly mission.
However, the plot of the film gets repetitive and full of familiar clichés.
Performances
- Even with the film’s many flaws, its performances make it an interesting watch. Alia Bhatt continues to exhibit her range in her latest performance, playing the part of a cold, emotionally disturbed killer. While she executes the action scenes earnestly, certain action segments do not look authentic because of the unrealistic choreography in the film.
- The chemistry between Alia and Sharvari in the film is one of the main strengths of the movie. It must be said that while Sharvari plays her character well with plenty of enthusiasm and charisma, the screenplay does not develop the emotional connection between the two twin sisters.
- The performances of Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor are earnest and sincere, but their poorly written characters leave little room for any kind of emotional attachment to them.

Positive Points
- One of the things that make this movie better than average is the innovative plot that has two female spies at its center in a big Bollywood action franchise. The chemistry between Alia and Sharvari is strong, and there are some touching emotional scenes between them.
- The action scenes have stylish camera work, and high-production values characterize the film through and through.
Negative Points
- The most significant flaw of the movie is the thin plot. Lack of suspense, lack of drama, and twists in the script made the nearly three hours long runtime tedious.
- There are instances where action scenes did not make sense, and continuity issues often hampered the flow of the story. Not much time has been spent on developing supporting characters or the emotional bond between father and daughter.
- Moreover, there are unnecessary songs and cameo appearances that unnecessarily prolong the runtime and reduce the uniqueness of the story, making it seem like another movie from the YRF universe.
- Hrithik Roshan cameo, instead of making excitement, felt like it weakened the identity of the War franchise’s key character.
Verdict
To conclude, though Alpha had the potential to revolutionize the genre of action movies in Bollywood starring women, it could not live up to the expectations owing to its poor execution. Despite great performance by the actors and impressive production values, the predictable storyline and slow pace of the movie made it less enjoyable than expected.
Viewers who enjoy YRF Spy Universe movies might enjoy the action and links of this movie, but spy thriller fans might be disappointed.
