Plot Summary
Ravi (played by Ansh) and Chitti (Vasavi Ganesan) lose track of their studies and future ambitions after getting involved in a relationship where both parties are studying at different levels: Ravi has passed his tenth standard and has joined intermediate while Chitti is still at school. Meanwhile, their parents have different plans for their children.
The story revolves around the realization of Ravi and Chitti about their wrongdoings and brings back their focus on life.
Strengths
- This talented first-time director, Bhikshu, should be commended for taking up such a relevant and realistic topic and attempting to tackle it in such a vibrant and entertaining manner. The film presents how easily teenagers get distracted from their studies, ambitions, and dreams due to romance and peer pressure.
- I found Vasavi Ganesan’s performance as a mother to be convincing and strong; she tackles the challenging role with precision and has good chemistry with Ansh. Speaking about Ansh as Ravi, the actor has to undergo a lot of transformations but manages to pull it all off with ease. Govardhan Reddy and Ramesh Nakirekanti ‘s performances as concerned parents also deserve special mention.
- Coming back to the film, the biggest strength is its message, which is quite important for modern cinema. While a lot of films only depict romantic relationships, rarely do they show what consequences can arise from them. That is why “Hushar Pittalu” is great, as it highlights the possible outcomes and challenges.
- In addition, the movie is very consistent in its comedic concept, with many funny scenes being placed throughout the film to provide viewers with a good laugh, especially during the more dramatic moments. All in all, the film’s messages and themes are generally well-integrated into the narrative with an appropriate balance of lightheartedness.
- The technical side of the film is also noteworthy, as it features solid music by Charan Arjun, which perfectly fits the countryside setting. The camera work by Rudra Sai is also worth mentioning, as he does a great job at capturing the locations, and Marthand K Venkatesh keeps the editing tight, allowing the film to maintain a steady pace without dragging.
Weaknesses
- On the downside, the film’s execution is severely undermined by the number of bold and adult scenes, which, in my opinion, was an unwise decision both thematically and commercially. I believe that such a film that primarily promotes love and morals should have been more family-friendly and not include scenes that could be considered inappropriate for children.
- Furthermore, the script does not offer much in terms of new twists or turns and, in some ways, fails to deliver on its own premises. There are certain events that could have been avoided, and the realization of Ravi and Chitti seemed almost too convenient as well.

To sum up, “Hushar Pittaru” is a film with a great concept and good acting but severely flawed execution. The actors, especially the young leads, deserve much praise for their performances, as do the film’s comedic elements, messages, and parental themes. However, the film’s predictability and lack of originality ultimately hurt it, along with the inclusion of adult content that could have been omitted.
