Ikka Storyline
Arjun Mehra, a.k.a. Ikka (Sunny Deol), is a famous lawyer. But destiny gives him the toughest case in life, as Arjun has to defend his archrival, Shoryaman Gaur (Akshaye Khanna). Gaur is accused of murdering Soma Mittal (Akansha Ranjan Kapoor).
It’s not an easy task for Arjun, as he is torn between what is right and what his heart tells him to do. Arjun is faced with the determination of junior lawyer Mathura Banerjee (Tillotama Shome). In “Ikka,” the courtroom turns out to be a war zone as Arjun tries to fight on the issues of morality and values against justice. Though the storyline seems simple and predictable, the emotional conflict will hook you till the end.
Cast Performances
- Once again, Sunny Deol shows why he’s among the most charismatic Bollywood actors. Arjun Mehra is a character full of intensity and vulnerability; every scene with him is filled with emotion. Fans of Damini will enjoy watching him fight the cases in court.
- Akshaye Khanna delivers a great performance as the enigmatic and crafty Shoryaman Gaur. His acting, dialogues, and body language make him one of the best parts of the movie.
- Tillotama Shome does a good job of playing Mathura, who holds her own in the scenes with Sunny Deol. Dia Mirza is lovely in the movie, bringing balance to the story with her emotional performances. Sanjeeda Shaikh and Akansha Ranjan Kapoor deliver their parts well despite having not much screentime.

- The biggest merit of the movie is the conflict in the center of it—a righteous lawyer defending someone that he might be guilty of a crime. The director makes the courtroom drama realistic without using exaggerated scenes.

- This last 20 minutes really takes the film to the next level through some surprising revelations and a great ending.
Negative Points
- While having an interesting storyline and a promising theme, Ikka fails with its uneven screenplay. Its pace slows down quite a bit after the interval, and there are some scenes that are just too lengthy.
- Some scenes involving the father-daughter subplot fail to gel well into the plot. In addition, not all dialogues in the film manage to have that impact one would expect out of a courtroom drama starring Sunny Deol. With Akshaye Khanna already looking like the suspect from the get-go, parts of the trial become predictable.

Ikka is a compelling courtroom drama that shines mainly thanks to the excellent performances of its lead actors. Sunny Deol offers another memorable role, while Akshaye Khanna completes him with his perfectly poised role. Even though the screenplay falters a couple of times, the satisfying climax and great courtroom scenes make the film worthwhile.
