Story Overview
Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past focuses on a renowned filmmaker, Devadutt Choudhary, aka Dev (Mimoh Chakraborty), gearing up to release his latest film Laila Majnu. Days prior to the film’s grand theatrical debut, he catches his lover and lead actress of the film, Sonali (Aradhna), with the male lead of the film. This situation breaks Dev from inside, and he leaves Mumbai without informing anyone, with cousin Titu (Gaurav Bajpai).
Their fate brings them to a hill area, and they decide to stay in a palace for rent, and the local broker finds them Maniktal Palace. As they reach the palace, they see the right side wing’s doors and windows, which are closed, while only the left side wing’s are open. While they questioned the palace caretaker, Trilok (Hemant Pandey), he said that the doors have been shut over the decades, and the reason is the keys to the section are missing.
Soon, Dev realizes that the shut door belongs to a different era. How does Dev realize the unexpected activity? What will happen next?

Positive Points
- Vikram Bhatt played multiple roles in the film, but only his plot works for the viewers.
- Mimoh Chakraborty, as a depressed man, has done a good job, alongside other stars like Chetna Pande, Shruti Prakash, Gaurav Bajpai, and Praneet Bhatt, who are played well.
- Horror sequences work well, and most of the palace sequences are remarkable.
Negative Points
- Except for the story, Vikram Bhatt’s work failed to leave an impact.
- The film suffers deeply from its excessive use of AI and VFX.
- None of the songs work in the film, which is the key disappointment in this installment compared to earlier ones.
- The horror stories majorly turn the game with their climax, but with ‘Haunted 3D: Echoes of The Past,’ the underwhelming climax deeply misses the mark.
- Naren A. Gedia’s cinematography is decent, alongside Kuldip Mehan’s editing, which is unable to meet the mark.
Verdict
Overall, ‘Haunted 3D: Echoes of The Past’ failed to continue its franchise value. The story of the film is the only essence that needs special mention, but the climax still suffers. The Mimoh Chakraborty-starrer struggles to deliver a satisfying experience, making it a better choice to wait for its fans for an OTT debut instead of cinema.
