Karan Johar financed upcoming emotional action thriller Jigra recovers the Rs 90 Cr budget from non-theatrical rights
According to the news portal Bollywood Hungama report, 2022’s critically acclaimed Netflix film “Monica, O My Darling,” directed by Vasan Bala, helmed the upcoming film “Jigra,” creating impressive buzz around the film for its gripping storyline and especially the first collaboration between the talented director Vasan and Bhatt’s collaboration. The film was made with a budget of Rs 80 Cr, and alongside the print and publicity costs of Rs 10 Cr, the total budget cost is Rs 90 Cr.
Interestingly, producer Karan Johar made a deal of OTT and satellite rights with a huge Rs 90 Cr, which means the entire budget amount recovered prior to the grand debut. Now the rest of the music rights and box office collection’s every penny will be profit for the makers. The hype for the film hinting at a gross minimum of Rs 100 Cr+, at the box office.
Jigra non-theatrical deal
The report added that Netflix locked the OTT rights with a handsome amount of Rs 70 Cr; on the other hand, the satellite rights sold for another notable amount of Rs 20 Cr.
