Bhai Tera Star Hai Movie Review: The Hindi entertainer ‘Bhai Tera Star Hai’ is the debut film for Raghav Juyal as an individual leading star. The director Vivek Agrawal tries to merge fast-paced confusions, eccentric characters, and a race against time in one wild night that occurs in London. However, although the idea looks promising, the execution fails to make viewers laugh, and as a result, the movie itself is trapped in confusions.

Storyline: A Story Based on Confusions
The story revolves around Ajay Singh (played by Raghav Juyal), who is a struggling actor and has found himself in a lot of trouble after he has failed to repay £10,000 to a dangerous bar owner called Fatty. The thing is that Ajay has only a limited period of time till midnight to pay back the amount.
While passing this night, the problems of the main character pull various people into this mess, including his girlfriend Roshni, sister Natasha, Fatty’s colleagues, suspicious lovers, a policeman, and others. Although the plot resembles a comedy of errors, the screenplay keeps repeating the same moments again and again without delivering any laughter.
Direction and Screenplay
Director Vivek Agrawal should be praised for his efforts of trying something new with a movie that looks like a continuous single shot through a camera. Some of the transitions with the camera are aesthetically pleasing and maintain the illusion of one continuous shot.
Nevertheless, style will never make up for a lack of substance. The script assumes that constant action will give a sense of momentum; however, every misunderstanding breeds another misunderstanding but fails to produce anything funny. It is not that the situation does not escalate, but the same chaos is repeated multiple times, extending the movie unnaturally.
Raghav Juyal is the lead
Once again, Raghav Juyal proves why his perfect comic timing has earned him a fan base. He is very good at his deadpan comedy, and the awkwardness of Ajay comes naturally to him. There are a couple of self-deprecating jokes about his career, but the script leaves him without much to work with.
Niharika NM brings charm as Roshni, although her character is quite shallow. Sanjay Kapoor plays the quirky character of Fatty with great ease and adds life wherever he turns up in the movie. Parvathy Omanakuttan, Tina Desai, Barkha Singh, Vivan Bhatena, Niki Aneja Walia, and Chandan Roy Sanyal play their roles well, although they are wasted because of the overcrowded plot.

A Comedy That Doesn’t Often Hit the Mark
The main flaw of Bhai Tera Star Hai is its uneven humor. Instead of building up the comedy through good writing, most jokes are based on Bollywood, meta-humor, and repetition.
In fact, the music itself gives away the point at which the viewer is supposed to laugh. At the end of the movie, unwanted songs come in, further disconnecting the story from the viewer.
The aim of this movie is absurdist comedy, but it ends up being noisy.
Verdict
Overall, the bad writing, tired jokes, and cluttered screenplay hold Bhai Tera Star Hai back from being the hilarious movie it hopes to be.
While Raghav Juyal tries his very best with the script provided to him, there is only so much one can do to save a movie from its own weaknesses when the screenplay just doesn’t deliver.
